Don’t be sheepish

Posted by on January 5, 2012 at 10:44 am in Celebrities, General, Styles

It’s that time of the year when you need to inject some heat into your life.  What could be warmer than a sheepskin coat?

Popular many years ago this coat is now a fashionable trend; judging by the many celebrities wearing them.  Wink Tiffany at Revolveclothing.com has provided Holly Willoughby with a knee length vintage number while Ashley Tisdale sported a short white trimmed sheepskin jacket

See off those January blues in a fashionable way with many of the styles that are on the market today.

Emma Kniveton, who is More’s fashion assistant suggests a longer length sheepskin coat as this will in turn allow you to hide those unwanted problem areas, but short jackets tend to show off small waists and longer legs.

Ferne Cotton dressed her grey longer length jacket down by wearing jeans and short stylish booties.  The jacket was from Very.co.uk and can be purchased online at the site by any one that wishes to steal her effortless style.  While Amelia Lily rocked in a stylish item from Kiwi Boutique.

Of course the sheepskin jackets worn by the celebrities may be a little out of our price ranges.  There are however many sheepskin coats out in the shops at affordable prices, one of the best buys are from the high street favourite, Primark.  Their sheepskin coat comes in at only £25.  Coats that are also same price include those from the online fashion stores, Boohoo and Missguided.co.uk.  Both have a snug longer length jacket at £54.99.  The £60 Butterfly by Mathew Williamson sold at Debenhams is tan wit a side zipper and would grace any catwalk. So there is definitely no need to be sheepish, simply keep warm while looking great in these fabulous sheepskins.

Celeb’s wear high street too!

Posted by on November 28, 2011 at 10:18 am in Celebrities, Styles

You may think that celebrities only shop at the stores we can’t afford and getting our hands on anything we have seen them in to be a chore!  This isn’t however the case and as well as their usually designer splurges, celebrities do high street too!

Kristin from The Hill’s, Diana Vickers and Lydia are just a few of the A-list celebs that have recently been spotted working the high street.

Kristen opted for a cutesy red shift from a very infamous online fashion store. ASOS is the store in question and is currently selling the Kristen Cavallari shift, which offers a cut away detail at the waist, which to imply a slimmer figure!  We like!  The dress is priced at under £50 and is a great option for any seasonal parties you may have on the cards.  It also ticks all the festive boxes with that super red colour!

This particular dress can be worn as a simply shift, as a miniskirt when teamed with a cropped knit above the waist and as a daytime look by covering up the cut out detail with a wider belt.  Alternatively work the rock chick look and wear with a black caged ankle boots and a biker jacket.

Lydia was recently seen sporting a 70′s star print jewel toned dress, which screamed preppy when worn with a leather satchel and penny loafers.  This cutesy dress certainly covers three of this season’s major catwalk tones in the shape of it’s jewel tone, the star print and of course the 70′s style.

Diana went for the denim trend of the season by wearing a statement denim jacket with a cute shirt and sparkly skirt.  Work this trend into the winter months by layering a faux fur or leather gilet over the top!

The best celeb hairstyles of 2011

Posted by on November 23, 2011 at 11:28 am in Styles

We are always looking to celebrities for inspiration when it comes to style, and hair is no exception. There have been many iconic hairstyles sported by celebrities over the years, and now with figures like Lady Gaga and Rihanna pushing the boat out even further when it comes to extreme styling, we are more inclined to try out new things ourselves. Yet simple classics still manage to hold their own in the hairstyling world – here are three of the top celebrity hairstyles of 2011.

When Emma Watson first had her severe haircut, shortening her Hermione locks into a stark pixie cut, there were many rumours as to the reason. Perhaps it was to distance herself from the iconic role she had played since childhood – perhaps it was to prepare for a new, distinctly different role. The truth is, though, Watson simply hit on a great style and wasn’t afraid to take the plunge and go for it. The stylist who helped with that transformation was Rodney Cutler, who says that he paid particular attention to shaping “precise, rounded layers” to “conform to the head shape”. Don’t be afraid to do something drastic with your hair this year – Emma Watson did, and her status as a fashion icon has only increased. Use a ghd hair straightener to get her sleek and sophisticated look.

Emma Watson sports the cutest of crops!

We love a good bob for 2011 as well, and when Jennifer Aniston decided to take a big step forward and have her signature layers styled we were behind her 100%. Bobs have been huge this year, especially in the graduated style – that is, longer bangs at the front and a short, severe cut at the back, curving into the neckline. Asymmetrical bobs have also been a hit, and they can be livened up even further with daring dyes and bright colours, such as that sported by Rihanna earlier this year.

Rihanna's firey color is a hit!

Finally, we love making waves when it comes to hairstyles – big, voluminous waves that frame the face and accentuate the features. Love her or hate her, Kim Kardashian has become a major fashion icon in her own right during 2011, and her glamorous waves have been an inspiration to many. This look requires a lot of lift, so be sure to stock up on thickening products and sprays to give your hair extra hold.

Colours For Summer 2011

Posted by on June 1, 2011 at 10:48 am in General, Styles

Bold colours including canary yellow, coral rose orange, vivid blue and minimal white are proving to be the hot hues of this season. All of the new trends sashaying down the runway appear to be very wearable, in fact some of the attire would work just as well on an evening out as it would worn o a daily basis to the office. If you feeling a little creative however, make sure you experiment with some of this season’s 70’s style prints.

However if you prefer a slightly more minimalist look then white is this season’s colour for you, models went for the wow factor on this season’s runways by wearing white from head to toe. This may not be the most practical look; it is however a very beautiful look!

If you intend to invest in an all-white wardrobe, make sure you add a few splashes of colour here and there in the shape of regatta blues and coral rose orange tones, such as a pair of statement shoes, some statement vivid jewellery, an on trend headband or a cutesy handbag or clutch.

Bold orange is certainly a great colour for Summer; if you are not feeling brave enough to invest in all orange attire, simply add a few cute orange hued accessories to the mix such as headbands, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and scarf’s. The all new pantone colours for Summer 2011 come in the shape of beeswax yellow and coral rose, these two colours compliment the orange shade perfectly. Add a splash of honey suckle pink to mix or if you wish to jazz up the look even more, peapod green and blue Curacao also work extremely well.

Regatta is another blue shade that is proving popular this season and such a colour will compliment most skin tones, especially when teamed with coral rose or beeswax shades

Metallic Is the New Black

Posted by on January 12, 2011 at 6:57 am in Styles

There is no doubt that the metallic trend is hitting the fashion world hard, with top designers releasing their metallic dresses and fashion pieces. Celebrities are picking up the trend real quick; you can see several metallic during ceremonies and parties.

La Moss took the trend and created a stunning look of herself at Costume Institute gala in May 2009, and the trend continues to rise. Metallic is actually a very easy color to wear, especially when you have proper self confidence.

The good thing about metallic is that you don’t have to prepare too much fashion accessories or additional items. The dress fits into places perfectly. Gap, J.Crew, and other labels are all releasing metallic collections and are starting a new hype among fashion lovers.

If you can, find a halter-neck metallic dress. It is great outfit to wear on its own, but you can also add jackets, a nice handbag — preferably calmer on color — and of course matching pair of shoes. Use the combination in any possible event and you can never go wrong.

You can also find additional fashion items such as a silky scarf or classic jackets to help you achieve an entirely different look without changing dresses. It may be too sexy for everyday use, but you can easily wear the dress to different occasions, formal and non formal. Make sure you have a touch of metallic in your closet at all times, just in case you need a quick solution for parties.

Jason Wu’s One-Shouldered Chiffon Gown

Posted by on December 20, 2010 at 6:57 am in Styles

Jason Wu never thought that day as historical; in fact, he was just watching television at his Manhattan residence, eating pizza and totally not expecting what he saw next. It wasn’t until Michelle Obama appears on TV. Michelle wore to the plethora of parties on the eve of the inauguration in January, and Jimmy Wu was simply stunned. Even he wasn’t expecting that dress, and it was a life changing experience for sure.

If you want to look as gorgeous, try using Wu’s one-shouldered off-white dress as inspiration. Michelle Obama wore this dress to the party that night, and it changed the world for everyone. Who knows, you can also rock everyone’s world by wearing this featured dress.

If you are looking for ways to spice up the look and make it younger, you can always lose the accessories and go with pashmina shawl and a simple set of necklaces and earrings. Michelle Obama has superb taste for fashion, with designers such as Narciso Rodriguez, Isabel Toledo, and Maria Cornejo listed as her resident fashion designers, so following her style while adding your own personal touches may not be a bad thing at all.

You can also make the dress look a bit more chic by adding a matching hairstyle and some nice bracelets. Just don’t overdo with fashion accessories, since it would make the dress looks a lot less special. With everything set, you can go to any formal or semi-formal events looking like a First Lady that dazzles everyone.
